The 2022 Jeep Compass is a vehicle designed with the customer in mind. This compact crossover SUV offers the uncompromising capability and innovative design without compromising style.
Four-cylinder engine powers every Compass, and the standard manual transmission and the optional nine-speed automatic are sluggish. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on all front-wheel-drive variants. Customers who choose all-wheel drive will have access to several settings optimized for different terrain types.
With the automated mode selected, the vehicle may distribute torque to the wheels as it sees fit. At the same time, the snow, sand and mud settings can be adjusted to allow varying degrees of wheel slip and increase grip. A low "crawler" gear ratio is standard on Trailhawk models, and a Rock mode keeps the Compass in first gear while sending power to the wheels with the most traction.
Despite its extensive and boxy exterior, the Compass drives with surprising dexterity because of its well-weighted steering wheel. Even while navigating tight turns, the Compass seems under control, stable and capable.
