The new Jeep Renegade isn't exactly what most people picture when the word "Jeep" is uttered, but so far in 2016 it has been among the best-selling of the entire subcompact crossover segment.

640 × 480?

Perhaps in celebration of its own quirkiness, Jeep hid a number of "easter eggs," or surprises, that celebrate Jeep's heritage and off-road culture.AutoGuide recently went on an "easter egg" hunt in the new 2016 Jeep Renegade:

  • On the passenger side of the windshield, you can find a small etching in the glass of a the father of all Jeeps, the Willys WB, which was legendary for its workhorse status as the U.S. Army's vehicle of choice in the second World War.
  • Inside the small storage cubby and center console are topographical maps of Moab, UT, one of the top destinations for off-roading in the U.S. This is where Jeep holds its annual Easter Jeep Safari where it debuts new concepts and celebrates the brand.
  • The seven-slot Jeep grille is iconic and the motif can be found is several places in the Renegade, including behind the rear view mirror.
  • You can also find Jeep grilles on the speakers, inside the rear hatch and etched on the tail lights and headlights.
  • On the rear windshield is a tiny etching of a Sasquatch climbing a small mountain.
  • Finally, the tachometer in the Renegade is "mud-splattered," getting this Jeep dirty before it ever goes off-road.
