Truck drivers in greater Baton Rogue know the power of a winch to get you out of the worst driving messes. In fact, in the RAM Power Wagon the winch is a standard feature. For most other models like the 1500 however, you can order one on line or at the our Ram parts center in Gonzales.
The car service team here at Ralph Seller has some helpful tips to help you anchor that winch, and to use it correctly.
- Anchoring: Be sure your anchor is solid enough to hold the weight of your vehicle, and something stable.
- Straps: Single-line pull is best. To do this set the strap as low around your anchor point as you can.
- Attach: Run the winch hook through both strap and attach the wire to the hook.
- Remove the slack, recheck your rigging and pull yourself out of harm's way.
Some folks also recommend using an old towel or blanket to cover the wire. This is a safety precaution. If the wire snaps, having a soft cover may prevent damage to your truck.
That's just one of the many helpful tips the crew in our parts and service centers have to offer to local truck and car drivers. To learn more helpful tips, about using any of the Ram or Chrysler parts in our Baton Rogue area dealership, just come to Ralph Sellers Chrysler Dodge Jeep today.
