If you are busy traveling around the roads of greater Baton Rouge in your 2013 Dodge Durango SUV, we imagine you are a pretty happy driver. After all, available All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) are both great options for added traction control in any weather conditions. But what if, like many driving enthusiasts, you seek a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) option on other Dodge or Chrysler vehicles?
You might be in luck. Apparently, the engineers who create all the FIAT-Chrysler vehicles, including Dodge, have been working on a RWD platform. The concept is to create a single platform which would be used on the Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Dodge cars.
One reason this option seems likely is that this type of platform sharing is already in the works. Currently both the 2013 Jeep Cherokee and the anticipated 2014 Chrysler 200 rely on Alfa's compact US wide (CUSW) Platform. So, if the current feasibility study into the RWD platform goes well, we could see it on vehicles in 2015.
If it does happen, the new platform is most likely to be used on models like the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Challenger sedans.
